Environmental Justice includes the fight for a healthy environment and against racist pollution dumping in the South Bronx. We fight to stop the eviction of immigrant merchants to build a mall, the theft of our park to give away to the Yankees, and new developments in the South Bronx that favor the rich. We fight for transportation justice—not only against fare hikes and service cuts, but for equality with downtown in the subway and bus services we receive. We fight for clean fuel school buses and other vehicles, and are working with unions and community members around the country for healthy ports and cleaner freight. We also work with unions and other organizations against the discrimination of CVS stores. We are part of a Coalition fighting the expansion of Jails in New York City. We define environmental justice as anything affecting our abilities to progress and move forward as people and as community, which includes our social environment.
